The Two Battle's of Superbowl Sunday

When the first Superbowl was played in 1967, the only battle was the game. Since then a new kind of battle has evolved, the advertising battle. The massive amount of viewing eye's has led a vicious and expensive battle for that 30 second spot. Chevrolet, being a "top dog"  in the past of Superbowl commercial history, has decided to stray from the generic truck commercial.

The advertisement starts with a hard working cowboy tending to his bovine counterpart. Instead of showing all the new features of the Silverado truck, Chevy takes on the bull's point of view. From the holes in the trailer, the bull views the changing landscape while the cowboy drives down the road. As the timeless hit "You Sexy Thing" by Hot Chocolate starts, a rough, manly sounding voice says "A man. A man and his truck. A man, his truck, and a very eligible bachelor." The view transitions to finding love for the bull. Ending the advertisement, with the bull staring into a new group of cow's, while the bull licks his chops. Then the rugged man voice follows with "hello ladies".

This advertisement did not focus on their product, instead Chevy made a commercial you will remember. Yes, Chevrolet tied the new Silverado with the hard working man, and showed the consumer that their truck can handle long hauls and pulls with ease, but that is not what sticks with the a person. Personally, I believe this is a strategic plan that will capture a new audience.
